About the Artist
My sentimentality and the bridge between my Filipino-American experiences exists in a realm of endless imagination portrayed through playful, yet eerie perspectives, vibrant color palettes, and bold/charismatic women characters. My illogical images, memories, dreams, and intuition, taking visual form through oil and acrylic paint. Here, everything I can possibly think of and relate to are just as tangible as everyday objects. Since I was a child, I have always visited and revisited those same kinds of imagery – ones that scare me, intrigue me, confuse me. The results, which are never predictable, come out as complex and meaningful as they are in our unconscious minds.
To recreate stories within their own stories; capturing familiar memories and the feelings they used to bring me in the style I cultivate as Japanese Horror and surrealism. The women in my family, especially my mother, sisters and grandmother, have always carried themselves with confidence, grace, and nerve - the way strong Filipinas are seen. I’ve always been inspired by the women in my life translating their bold auras through the muses I create from a canvas to a permanent body. This is how I plan to inspire and be inspired.
